[news] Former Steelhead Yablonski take talent to Russia

Idaho Steelheads Former tough guy and fan favorite Jeremy Yablonski has signed a contract for the 2011-12 season playing in the Kontinental Hockey League. Yablonski, who has played the last four seasons with Binghamton and Bridgeport of the American Hockey League signed to play with the Knights Vityaz Chekhov, a franchisee of 15 years of age KHL plays Chekhov outside Moscow.


Yablonski played two full seasons and part of a third in Boise and has been a fan favorite since it first hit the ice in the Central American Bank after the 2001-02 season for Steelhead on the West Coast Hockey League. The 31 years of Meadow Lake Saskatchewan, Canada played a total of 113 games in a sweater Steelheads and recorded 10 points (5 g, 5a), while spending 491 minutes in the penalty box. Yabo (as called by fans) to his wife and daughter Kerstin Taylor continued to make Boise their home out of season, even after his career took him to the east.

During his 11 year career Yablonski has earned a reputation as one of the most feared fighters in professional hockey. His pugilistic skills also have removed the ice and in the octagon. Yablonski has a 4-0 record in his career part time MMA began with victories in XFS XFS-5 and 6, both at Qwest Arena in Boise in 2007.
